Blogger in Draft: Facelifting my blogs

I spent more than half a day today doing face lift to my blogs - and I'm not done yet. I just happen to open up and see how my blogs look like, and I'm not impressed.

Anyway, Blogger in Draft is open for use, while it is still in the beta phase, and that is helping me a lot. It is just so easy selecting which template to use, going down to deciding how many sidebars you want - and where. You'll be able to change the fonts and their size and color afterwards.

Then you can choose the background you want to employ - if available.

Actually, what I liked the most is the arranging and re-arranging of the columns - which the guys doing the development are really doing a very, very good job. Well, kudos to all of you there making life easier for all of us bloggers.

I'd continue to use Blogger in Draft - I can't get enough of what is being offered, and I'm taking advantage at this very early stage of its development.

Blogging Tips - A Simple Way to Easy Cash

Blogs are great. If you use Blogspot, they're even free as there are no hosting costs. Well, in this article, I'm going to give you a nice little system to make some easy cash with blogs. It doesn't take much brain power and it can be done in as little as an hour a day. Keep reading to find out more.

It's no secret that the world of entertainment is big. You almost can't turn on the TV without finding out something that somebody did. Maybe an actor or actress is in a new movie or TV show. Maybe a singer has just come out with a new CD. Whatever it is, it's news...and people want to know about it. So what I'm going to have you do is simply capitalize on current events.

Go to Google Trends and see what celebrity is on the charts. There isn't a day that goes by that there isn't somebody who is being talked about. What you want to do, however, is only focus on the celebrities who have something major going on...even if it's not directly related to their career. Yes, I'm talking about all that hot gossip too, like who's dating who or who's divorcing who. Like it or not...that's news too.

Once you've found somebody who is really hot, set up a Blogger blog (it's free) for that person. You're then going to focus on two areas. The first area is the day to day news for the person. Whatever is going on, you're going to write about it...regardless of what it is. Like I said, even gossip is news. The second area you're going to concentrate on is the person's accomplishments. If they're a singer, you might want to list all their CDs and even review some of them. If they're an actor or actress, you might want to list their movies or TV shows and review some of them. You should have no trouble finding something to write about.

Do this for about three or four weeks so that you've built up quite an authority blog on the person and then wait for the traffic to come in. To help this along, you might want to bookmark each article you write. You might also want to tweet about it at Twitter if you have an account. No matter who you interact with, very few people are not into entertainment. It's a broad market.

After about a month, start monetizing the blog with AdSense and Amazon. CDs may not sell for much and at 4% commission you won't make a fortune. But after a while, the sales add up. And with decent traffic, AdSense revenue can become quite substantial.

This isn't rocket science. It's easy to do and it won't cost you a dime.

31 Days to Build a Better Blog

31DBBB.

I have been blogging since 2006, I remember, and have posted a thousand articles, news items, health breakthroughs, issues and current affairs, monitored the H1N1 pandemic, heralded the return of comic characters in the TV, broadcasted upcoming films, and a million other things, and so far, I have not done a really good job in my blogging.

Anyway, help is on the way.

And I didn't even know it.

I have been subscribed to Problogger for quite some time, and I was just simply going through the articles whenever they arrived in my Inbox, not really taking things discussed there seriously. Until...

I thought that as my blog, while personal, is no longer private, as I've had some subscribers to two of my blogs, I woke up and realized that I had to make my blogging better. I cannot give junk and trash to other people, but I have to make someone's day, and, if ever it will happen, help them.

And as I said, that help is on the way, it really was. And was I simply paying attention, or what, I saw that 31DBBB was offered, from $39, to something like $19.95 or so, a price half of the original.

I've been seeing that ads at the bottom of the subscription mail sent everytime, but I thought to myself, another one of those...

I changed my mind, at the point when I saw the author's story, how he, just like me, years ago was not doing full time blogging. hey, I'm still not doing full time blogging now, I even sneak in some time in the office when it is just a slack time, so I can quickly type in some articles, just like this one. but "if he can, why can't I?", I thought to myself.

I'm really looking forward to doing some work (at home, if possible) where I can have my time to my self and not having to wake up early and rush to work, but will be doing what I really like best, and at the same time, help people while helping myself.

I've learned from one of my teachers back in my college days: browse through a book when reading. I did jsut that with 31 Days to Building a Better Blog, and what I found satisfied me: share to others what you learn from this book, in that one of the exercises mandates a 'search for a kindred blog, with the purpose of helping the author'.

Now isn't that something just plain unselfish in this days of "mine, mine, mine; me, me, me"?

I've been looking at the templates for blogspots, and the starter set are all in 2-column formats. And the content would have to be going down, down, and down, especially when the number of things you have is growing. Posts are normally going down, especially if there are many. But sidebars and gadgets would really have to go down, down, down with the increase of such items in your blog.

What's the solution?

Convert to 3-column template!

Or at least, if not making your blog 3-column, remove some items. So if you are like me, who would rather go for "no-deletion" mode, and would keep everything that I have been accustomed to see, or if I can use a template that will allow me to put in some more that what I have now (with the 2-column template, that is), then a 3-column blooger template is the answer to your question.

Checked on the web, and found many that are very, very complicated, some are suprefluously artistic, and some are overly simple.

Suited for blogger? Many are not, although they claim to be. But good grief, I did find still many websites that have a working version, and complatible with blogger.com.

I just picked one, where most, if not all, of the 2-column templates are available in 3-column formats.
